First introduced in 1971, the Omega Seamaster Ploprof 1200 M is an excellent remake of a classic diving watch.   It’s a large timepiece measuring 55m x 48mm x 17.5mm and its name originates from the French  Plongeur Professional or Professional Diver.

The face is lacquered black with the word “Professional” in white.  It has an oversized minute hand and the date window is at the 4:30 position.

Caliber: 8500 allows for adjustment of the hour hand separately to allow for different time zones, daylight savings and standard time.  It uses in-house automatic mechanical movement with a co-axial escapement, and a 60 hour power reserve.

At 2 o’clock the bezel-release security pusher with an orange anodized aluminum ring can be turned in either direction when the button on the top case is depressed, you can be sure that the bezel is always secure during your diving excursions.  Chronometer certified by COSC.

Automatic Helium escape valve at 4 o’clock allows helium atoms to escape during decompression, great for divers who operate from diving bells.

Located at the 9 o’clock position, the protected crown unscrews before you can wind or set the time and date.  The design allows free wrist movement.

Brushed stainless steel and polished bevels, the center piece of the two piece case back displays the famous seahorse relief sealed in place with an outer screw-in ring.

Superluminova is used on the hands and hour markers, a lovely blue glow in the darkest of places.  The bezel also illuminates in the dark as do the numbers.

Water-resistant to 1,200 meters or 4,000 feet this is one serious diving watch.

Brushed mesh “Sharkproof” bracelet or rubber straps in orange or black, the bracelet has an extension system, a diving safety clasp with 18 positions and an extra divers extension to 26mm to wear over a wetsuit.

Presented in a special black zippered case made of neoprene, the material used in divers’ wetsuits, this watch has left out no detail.
